Post 156: Celebrating 10 years
Today, you & I celebrate the marriage of a decade.
At times, I wondered if we’d see daylight of another year.
What I’ve realized, as I look back, is we’ve a love that doesn’t fade.
And somehow here we are a whole decade later!
Sadly, we celebrate today with you in Iraq & I in England.
Hearts-apart; that’s what the Military calls it
If I had rank, today my husband I’d demand
In my arms, safe at home you’d be
Looking back together at 10 years of our past
Cuddled up on a blanket, with memory books in hand
Amazed at the things our love has outlast
Hearts-apart, hardly true with ones so intertwined.
Our hearts do not stop beating or feeling, they simply do not part.
We still feel…our connection stronger than any phone or internet signal
A love deeper and more meaningful than what just physical beauty could impart
10 years, say a lot about the strength of our hearts…our connection
You are an amazing husband, time & time again you’ve been my knight in shinning armor
My prince, my hero – the one who always saves the day, fixes the problem & holds me close
My friend, my lover – the one who with me shares life and its odd humor
The one who always no matter what the day has held kisses me goodnight
Today, even though apart – I am still amazed to be standing at the beginning with you
A journey we began 10 years ago, never dreaming all we’d go through
Now here we stand at the start of another year, with a love tried and true
Unafraid of the future and together still dreaming of days & things to come
Last year we renewed our wedding vows and celebrated our anniversary with cold pizza
The words, the vows that I wrote and spoke then are just as true today
We may not be dancing the day away in one of Italy’s finest Piazza’s
…but today my heart is soaring with yours in a place only 10 years together could find
I love you honey, Happy 10th Anniversary.

10 years is quite a feat that many people don't reach.
"Here here" to many more happy years to you both!
