Army Wives on Lifetime

Okay, I have a new addiction. I've gotten myself hooked in this tv show called ARMY WIVES, it comes on Sunday nights 10pm on Lifetime. To those of you who know me best know that I don't watch a whole lot of tv. Most the time its on CMT or Music Choice (my radio died...or it would be off). Sometimes there is a cd in the dvd player...but I could probably live without a tv if I didn't have one. I think that comes from growing up...my grandparents NEVER owned a tv.

Okay, so anyway I watched the first Army Wives show when it was on episode #3. I'd seen it advertise and I thought you know I'm gonna check this out. I wasn't hooked. Kinda like my first experience with M2M, I wasn't hooked the first time I came. It was the second meeting I came to - and never left. Just like it was the second show that I watched that grabbed me.

The first show I was so disappointed in because it showed these wives supporting each other, being there for one another, encouraging them, and everything I've experienced through M2M, but have yet to experience from other military wives. I thought to myself "what a crock!" and then I voiced my irritation to my husband and he informed me I was wrong. He said that in the Army they are close like that. All their husbands pretty much deploy at the same time, which leaves them with nothing but each other.

Anyway - I went on to tell David that I'd never felt any kind of bond with any other Air Force wife. I've always been the youngest wife in the flight (thankfully I think that might change now that I've been around for 9 years) and I don't know just never received that kind of friendship from another AF wife. He told me I've not yet been introduced to a real "military wife". He said I'd get that experience in England. That overseas, the flights and everyone are a lot closer nit.

So I'm excited about that - I know it won't be like this tv show I'm watching - but I'm excited about the possibility of having a close friend who is also an AF wife. Someone who goes through the same things I do, everyday. Someone who has the same fears, concerns, worries.

I don't know if I'm hooked on the show because it deals a lot with our way life or what, but it's grabbed me so much so that I don't want to miss it. I record it and I watch it on Monday mornings as my daughter gets ready for school. I've recently learned that I probably won't get to watch it in England. They get like 5 tv channels...so I'm going to have to order the dvd series sets as they come out just to be able to watch it, which sucks but hey at least that way I can still watch it!

I've learned a lot more about England lately. A friend of mine put me in touch with a friend of hers who is currently in England and will be for the next 2 years! So we've been emailing back and forth and I feel like I've already made a friend...which is great. She has told me about the bases, housing, schools, churches, and I just feel so blessed to have someone, another wife over there who can really tell me wife to wife what to expect and so forth.

I recently learned that the kids bedrooms may not fit much more than their beds! She said expect it to fit a twin bed, and have a few feet of flooring off to one side! YIKES! Is there going to be room for their dressers? And what about toy storage? She said if we get something with bigger dimensions we will be thankful and I fully agree! She also told me that the Furniture Management Office (FMO) would provide us with washer, dryer, and dishwasher! One problem have to find a home to rent that as a place for a dishwasher...I might be doing them by hand for 4 more years! haha....but on a tiny bit of hope maybe not. :) I've learned that most the schools have prayer and hymns! She said how Christ-centered it is depends on the staff usually. She told me about sports and tv, and just lots and lots of things. I'm having a blast emailing her back and forth and learning more about what life might be like or what to expect in the near future.

Anyway, back to Army Wives...in the episode from last night - one of the main characters Pamela becomes a radio announcer and she has the wives calling in for a "have at it session". And one woman calls in and says she's 8 months pregnant with a 2 year old, her husband is deployed and when she went to the PX (shopping) she had to park way in the back...then when she got up front she saw all these empty spots for Commanders and stuff and was ticked. So they talked about getting special up front spots for Pregnant Moms.

Believe it or not, on Base they do have those special parking spots for expecting Mothers. I've used one. I just thought that was really cool - to know that in real life and to see it on the show.

I am just so addicted to this show! I encourage all of you to watch it. You may not be a military wife...but as Mom and a friend...you can really relate to these women and how there are truly there for one another. Of course there is always a little drama...but thats expected, don't ya think? haha Women and no drama? What would the world be like? haha

Anyway - if you watch it, let me know what ya think. I just really love it and wanted to share that with you. Have a great day!
