This girl is something else! She is truly the sweetest, most lovable girl. She is going to become highly spoiled in this house I am afraid. Yesterday, David was off (American Holiday) and so we took Lady to the pet store, to get her some toys, a bed, and other items. Thankfully, the store was not too busy, because Lady does get very excited around people, she wants to see everybody, and to say "Hello".
After the trip there we returned home for some lunch and made a trip to the BX (department store on base) to see if what kind of pet supplies they had. Lady went along, but had to stay in the car while we were in the BX - she did great, sat there patiently in the drivers seat waiting on us! At the off base Pet store, we did however find a bed, some toys, a giant bone, and get her a name tag.
At the BX we got her some chew bones, some treats, some food, food dishes, and a kennel (to put her in when we are out for a few hours, until we know how she handles being alone - like when I go grocery shopping). What was really cool, was a lot of the dog treats were marked 50% off!
I wish the kennel would have been! She's yet to wonder into it and I didn't put her in it this morning when I took the kids to school because...Lady loves to go for rides! Every time I take her out, she goes straight to the car door - guess she thinks we're going somewhere.
Plus, the kids really wanted to show her off. Now granite I can only stand out at the edge of the school yard, but as the kids come in they can see her. The problem was Lady got so excited, it was hard to keep her still. There were just so many hands out there that could pet her! I think she was a bit overwhelmed, but she survived her first trip to the kids school! The kids also, each had a photo I'd printed out for them to take to class and be able to show their friends and teachers.
Lady loves to wake the kids up of a morning - she thinks that's just wonderful - because then she has more people to play with again! She does follow Brier around very closely when he has food - because well, he's shorter and easier to reach. She has also already learned that Brier leaves food laying around (I don't know what I'm gonna do with that boy)...but Lady has him figured out! He however, thinks she is one big pillow and loves snuggling with her.
As for Ashlynn, well Lady loves it when Ashlynn sits next to her on the couch and brushes her. Lady just lays there like she is in pure heaven. Ashlynn is also trying to teach Lady to "stay" until she calls her and then gives her a treat...it's been interesting...but Lady gives it her best go.
As for me and Lady - well we're getting along just great. We go for walks, we go out to the back garden (yard), and she runs (she's so pretty when she runs), we take naps together, and she even attempts to still David's spot in bed! Hence the reason we bought her a bed - however, she did not sleep on it! She crawled in bed with me again last night!
When David came up he got her to get down and she slept on the floor next to his side of the bed, almost all night, then at one point she snuck up onto our bed and laid at the foot of it. I am curious as to how tonight will go! I do not mind her sleeping with me, but she needs to learn like the kids - ONLY when Daddy is not home! She's so snugly and warm!
She also loves to sit on the couch with us and watch tv or a movie. You never know whose lap she's going to lay across or if she's gonna sit right in the middle of us! She is very much a snuggler and I love snuggles! Maybe we should have named her that! haha, oh well. She's a beautiful Lady and that fits her too.
She still follows David very closely when he is home. I think that has to do with the fact that her previous owner was just her and him. If she sees David grab his coat - she don't care what he's doing or where he is going, but she thinks she is going too! Last night he had class, so she and I went for a couple of walks down the sidewalk. She met one of the other dogs, Skippie, he didn't seem to care for her - but he will get used to her soon enough. She just stared at him, like "what's your problem?" haha.
Anyway, Lady is fitting right in! We are all loving her!! We love how she snuggles, wants to play, and just generally wants to be with us. Today is the first day of just me and her, the kids are at school. David is at work, and so I'm not sure what the two of us will do, we've been outside several times already and she is currently staring at the front door...I think that means "Let's go for a walk" haha So maybe that's what we will go do! I don't think she likes me sitting here typing this. I think she prefers me sitting on the couch, where she can sit with me.
...I don't know how anybody could not fall in love with this beautiful Lady.
