Okay, yesterday I told you about my interesting luncheon - very - and I had a lot more I wanted to tell you about, one of those things being the Kid's Christmas Plays. Brier's was last week and Ashlynn's was this week.
Brier's was very cute and he was Charlie, he had 2 lines and he knew them! He didn't forget them or get to shy to speak them. It was a really cute play. It was the Nativity story. They sang beautifully and everything. Of course we videoed and took pictures, but I had to sign this waver thing saying that it was for personal use only, and while this blog is our personal use - it might go against a few things. Other people might not appreciate photos of their children on the Internet. I will make a "private" slide show for you family members and you'll get a copy of the video at some point. I should of blogged about Brier's last week when I could remember a lot more! haha
Ashlynn's play was simply amazing. I was in awe of the whole thing. Ashlynn was a dancer and Mary and Joseph's flower girl. She had no speaking lines - which she did not like, haha.
The play started out with 4 kids on the stage - 2 boys, 2 girls, and the 2 boys were like look at all these people what's going on? Is it a birthday party? Then the girls told them "no it's a play, celebrating Jesus' birthday". So then one boy said "so it is a party" and the other boy said "Who is Jesus and how old is he" They guess some funny ages and then the girl told him "just a minute and I'll tell you" So the play goes into the entire story of Jesus' birth. It talks about the angel that visited Mary, the angel that visited Joseph - the turmoil they felt with her being pregnant and they not married yet. Then they had a wedding, then they traveled to the town that Joseph was from, Mary had Jesus in the stables - there were wise men, shepherds, and farm animals (kids dressed up) and it even went into talking about King Harrod and how he wanted to kill baby Jesus and had all boys under the age of 2 killed. By the end of the play they have told you that Jesus wants to be your friend and that you can be his friend and how. It was AMAZING! And they way these kids sang! Wow!! It blew me away!!! I told my friend Jenny, I wished she could have heard them!
You would NEVER see something like that in the states! I wish you would - but you wouldn't. Too many people have taken Christ out of things. You can't have Christmas plays anymore because it goes against Church and State, you can't pray in schools either and it's ridiculous! All because some broad got her panties in a wad, started a petition, and go this stinking ugly law passed.
People say it offends them to see Christmas programs and plays and to see others praying... well guess what? It offends me NOT to see it! People would not even be breathing if it weren't for the God who created them - they should respect that and praise him, instead of trying to remove him from every aspect of their lives.
I felt so good and so proud after witnessed my children's Christmas plays here in England. I never thought I'd get to witness my children in a Christmas program - I feel very blessed to have them in a school that prays, and believes in Jesus. The American schools could learn a few things - I tell you that.
While the Churches in England are not near as full as the ones in America - there is something here. You have people in America that go to Church Sunday morning to check it off their list, they did their duty, but are they living a Godly life? I know we all have a lot to learn and a long ways to go and it saddens me that Churches sit empty and that people play Church. I can't fix the world though, nor save it, that's what Jesus died on the cross for. It's just a shame that more people do not accept him into their lives.
I love reading Christian fiction - do you know how good it makes me feel? To read about people being saved, praying together, and trying to live according to the word...I never put a book down saying "why did I read that crap". I put it down saying "wow!" and I put it down feeling uplifted and I always take something away from it with me. You can't get that kinda feeling from some trashy romance novel. It's good to read about other peoples hang ups and screw ups, because Christian or not, we're human and we all make mistakes, we all fall short of the glory of God - it is just amazing that he loves us enough to forgive us daily!
I feel truly blessed this Christmas and I know none of it would be possible without the love of Jesus and direction of God's word. If you don't know Jesus - the best gift you could give this year is to find out who is! That was a line from Ashlynn's play. The best gift you could give Jesus on his birthday - is your heart, so take a moment to examine yours and reach out to the one who desires to fill your heart with joy, love, and peace.
Many blessings to all and Merry Christmas!!!
